Banana Berry Smoothie
I haven’t posted a smoothie to The Lovely Pantry in a while. My first (and only) smoothie post thus far was the Banana Nutmeg Smoothie. I think its safe to say that every smoothie that I make will have a banana in it. Everything else is purely optional. For the past week, I’ve been eating soft foods and so smoothies almost became mandatory – which is great. I’ve been whipping up smoothies for me and the kids, and even allowing them to choose some of the ingredients. Great!
I generally keep smoothies pretty simple. Occasionally, I’ll add vegetables or a flavoured protein powder (if I’m making just for me).
- 1 Cup Almond Milk
- 1 Cup Baby Spinach
- 1 Banana
- ½ Cup Frozen Berries (of more if you like)
- Place all ingredients in a blender
- Strain into serving cups (optional)
Frozen berries are always in my freezer specifically for smoothies. That way I have them on hand throughout the year and also I don’t have to add ice. I’ll use frozen bananas too if I don’t have fresh on hand. Whatever works, right?
My cousin told me that she adds spinach to her smoothies. I’ve been putting it in my smoothies ever since. You don’t even know it’s there. But I let my son put it in the blender so that he knows there is goodness his smoothie.
And here you have a healthy and refreshing breakfast drink!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Take good care of yourselves 🙂
I love smoothies! I’m currently trying to drop a couple pounds, too much good food so I’m doing a lot of these. The spinach is a great addition. Thanks Lyn!
You’re welcome Margo! Don’t forget to add some protein powder 🙂
Wow..what a great way to get some raw spinach into diet! Love berry smoothie and this is genius idea! Well done on the recipe, post and photos are wonderful too!!
Thank you so much, Sandra! I always love it when you visit 🙂
Wonderful post, Lyn! I love how you made this smoothie even healthier with the addition of spinach!
Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks Tina! We can do something healthy even in the smallest way 🙂 Glad to see you 🙂
What a super smoothie, I’m loving the spinach, I guess it’s strong flavour is masked by the berries and banana?
Hi Lin! You know, I don’t find spinach to have that strong a flavour. Its pretty mild. Perhaps its just me. Bit if there are berries or something sweet, I think it helps offset the “bushy” taste that greens tend to have. It goes so well with fruits in smoothies! 🙂 Thank you for your comment!
Banana + Berries is something you can’t say no to! This would be the perfect to start the day!
Yes! An overall crowd pleaser 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Love smoothie. Very tasty and healthy.
Thank you, Angie!!! 🙂
I’m a huge smoothie fan! I’ve been trying to get more fruits and veggies (and less fat) in my life, so I’ve returned to smoothies as my go-to breakfast. I’ve found that you can add up to about 3/4 of a peeled carrot (depending on how big it is) and a pretty good amount of broccoli to a smoothie without really tasting them. Well, I can sort of taste the carrot – but I’ve learned to tolerate it (I hate carrots). I usually alternate spinach and broccoli; the broccoli has less of an effect on the texture, I think. I make them in food processor; my blender isn’t tough enough for whole carrots. When I’m at my bf’s, I just slice the carrot before putting it in. Otherwise, just as you wrote it (without the almond milk, b/c I’m allergic). And I’m with you, Lyn, a banana is mandatory. Everything else is just whatever is on hand 🙂
Hi Mia! I should try carrots but I’d probably end up munching on them. I dont “love” carrots but i’m not opposed to having them. I’m terrified of (raw) broccoli but I figure as you say, a little won’t affect the taste. Too bad you’re allergic to almond milk. Thats some good stuff right there. Glad I to have you visit, I always appreciate when readers leave me a nice comment like yours. Cheers! Hope to see you again soon 🙂
Your pictures are beautiful and your smoothie looks so refreshing.
